About Us

Kelso Cavies was born when we purchased some lovely DE Goldens from Jimmy Young, and came about by accident when our daughter Megan aquired a pet guinea pig called Patch from the local garden centre. 

As she grew we realised that she was a Rex and as we used to show rabbits many years ago down in Buckinghamshire we decided to take her  to the Wolshingham rabbit & cavy club show and enter her into the juvenile pet class where she gained first prize.  Not bad for our first outing!.  

We are Malcolm, Alison, Megan (11), Emily (7) and Iona (4) we live in the beautiful Scottish Borders and belong to the SNCC, NCC, RCC and RVCC.  Alison is concentrating on DE Goldens and Swiss and Megan is keen to breed some Rex.  Emily and Iona will be taking their pet pigs to the shows also.  Malcolm spends most of his time in his shed building hutches, show carriers and out door pens to meet our piggies needs.
